Space: An octagonal room that minimizes unused space and works together as part of an architectural system, which has a roof of smart windows to allow as much daylight as possible, yet permits control over glare etc. Gas and electricity for project work are supplied overhead for flexibility.

Furniture: Tables that have "pull-out" temporary surfaces and storage space, with a form that allows for various room layouts depending on the activity. Spherical wheels and hangers underneath for the stools make it quick and easy to rearrange the classroom. The stools are height adjustable and have space to store rucksacks so that they are not tripped over.

Storage: Standardized trays that are interchangeable with all the storage in the room, a wall cavity cupboard that can be accessed from two different rooms, and RFID tags on the equipment, allowing the teacher to know exactly where everything is and whether the school needs new stock of particular things.

TAD: A wireless touch screen device called a Teacher Assisting Device that controls the environment and lets the teacher move around the classroom freely - a very important requirement as movement around the space is key to class control and good teaching. It also allows the teacher to speak with pupils who are working remotely from home.
